The EP-DT-DD Gas Detector Development (GDD) team is focused on research and developments of gaseous detectors. Our research studies focus on Micro-Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGDs), exploring different technologies for HEP and applications beyond fundamental research.

A few examples of R&D lines are described on dedicated pages: precise and fast timing detectors and related photocathode studies, GEM detector optimisation, electronic and optical readout, modelling and simulation, custom electronics and neutron detection (in collaboration with the European Spallation Source (ESS)).

The group plays a major role in the coordination and organisation of the RD51 collaboration activities at CERN and worldwide.
